Oyster Art Workshops & Kits

Allow the Low Country’s oyster traditions to spark your creativity!

Join us for our Oyster Art Workshops, located in Savannah, GA’s Forsyth Park, to learn about oyster-painting traditions, discover the historical importance of oysters on the Southeast coast, and paint your own oyster harvested from the Bull River.

Can’t make it for a live event but still want the experience? We also offer Oyster Art Kits that can be picked up at our headquarters or mailed to your door!

Who Are They For?

These Oyster Art workshops and project kits are designed for kids ages K-12! We welcome family members, Girl Scout and Scout troops, groups of friends, school groups, and more. If you have a question about your/your group’s participation, feel free to email christine@victreefi.com!

More About our Workshops

We are in the Coastal Empire and, yes, we love oysters! While you and your group are visiting Savannah, schedule a time to create your own oyster art!

In the Coastal Empire and Low Country, oysters are often eaten at social gatherings. Locals are known to save the oyster shells for decorative purposes. Inspired by this tradition of creativity, we offer the Oyster Art workshop! The oyster shells we decorate for this workshop are typically harvested from local oyster beds in the Bull River harvest area.

Schedule a time to meet with our instructor in Forsyth Park to create your oyster art! We supply oyster shells (one per participant) and all art supplies! This workshop is priced at $50 per person and will take approximately one hour to complete.

During the workshop, we will delve into the Coastal Empire’s tradition of oyster roasts and oyster-painting, including the customary way of painting oysters and the symbolic meaning behind it – all while getting creative and painting our own oyster art.
